Administeria

My monthly sysadmin column in Linux Format magazine, 2014-2017.

From 2014 to 2017 I wrote Administeria, the monthly sysadmin column in Linux Format, the UK’s best-selling Linux magazine. It was a good excuse to get hands-on with things early - Kubernetes a year after its release, Prometheus before it became the default. A selection of what I covered:

  1. 2014 Docker Multiple tutorials during early adoption
  2. 2014 OpenStack Four articles on cloud infrastructure
  3. 2015 Kubernetes Two-part series, one year after the Kubernetes release
  4. 2015 AWS / Ansible Three-part cloud automation series
  5. 2015 ELK Stack In-depth observability platform guide (2015-2016)
  6. 2016 Prometheus Early coverage of what's now the standard monitoring solution
